Offering solid-ground trekking, panoramic views of Segara Anak Lake, Gunung Baru Jari, and Mount Agung in Bali, this itinerary delivers the ultimate Rinjani caldera experience with less crowd and a much safer, more enjoyable climb.

Important Notes

Terrain Advantage: Sangkareang Peak sits on solid mountain dirt and rock rather than the sliding volcanic gravel (scree) found on the main Rinjani summit. This provides much firmer traction.

Pacing & Comfort: Camping the second night at Pos 3/Pos 2 allows a very relaxed descent schedule compared to standard 2-day treks.

Luggage Storage: Large suitcases, heavy travel bags, and non-trekking gear can be stored securely free of charge at our Senaru office.

Medical Requirement: A standard medical health check (Surat Keterangan Sehat) is required by the National Park. We will assist you in obtaining this in Lombok on Day 0.

No Lake Descent: This specific 3D2N Sangkareang itinerary stays along the rim and peak; it does NOT descend to the shore of Segara Anak Lake or the hot springs.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Route & Comparison

What is the difference between Rinjani Main Summit and Sangkareang Peak?

Rinjani Main Summit (3,726m) involves climbing steep, loose volcanic sand where you slide back with every step. Sangkareang Peak (3,200m) is the second highest peak on Rinjani's rim and features solid ground hiking, making it safer, less strenuous, and far less crowded while offering equally stunning views.

Do we go down to Segara Anak Lake on this trek?

No, this 3D2N Sangkareang package focuses on the Senaru Crater Rim, Sangkareang Peak, and a relaxed descent through the rainforest. If you wish to swim in the lake and hot springs, please check our 3D2N Lake & Hot Springs or 4D3N Full Circuit packages.

Is Sangkareang Peak suitable for beginners?

Yes! It is considered one of the best choices for beginner to intermediate hikers who want to reach a major 3,000m+ peak on Rinjani without the physical danger and mental fatigue of loose volcanic scree.

How fit do I need to be for this trek?

A reasonable level of general fitness is recommended. You will be walking uphill for 6-8 hours on Day 1. Regular walking, jogging, or stair-climbing in the weeks leading up to your trip will make your experience much more enjoyable.
